The "ABC"s of Prayer. "K" is for Kneeling

Although we don't often give much thought to our body position when we pray, scripture teaches us that kneeling is the preferred posture for prayer. The act of kneeling is a physical display of homage. An outward sign of humilty and honor to God. King David;the "man after God's own heart",encouraged us in Psalm 95:6 to "worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker." It is also recorded in the book of First Kings that David's son Solomon carried on this tradition as well. "And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven." (1 Kings 8:54)What better examples could we have than the prophets(Daniel 6:10),apostles(Acts 9:40&21:5)and even Christ Himself(Luke 22:41) that kneeling is an appropriate posture for prayer. In fact; tradition tells us that, the Apostle James earned the nickname "old camel knees" because of the effect his dedication to prayer had on him physically. If the man after God's own heart, the wisest man who ever lived, the man whose life the foundation of the church was based upon and so many others knelt to pray, should not that be our posture as well?

The "ABC"s of Prayer. "J" is for Jesus!

"...one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray." (Luke 11:1)Where would we be without the Lord? Not only would we not have a pattern for prayer, but take Jesus Christ out of the equation and everything associated with prayer becomes meaningless. There is no access because our mediator is unavailable. There is no boldness because the source of our zeal is uninterested. There is no confidence because the author of our salvation is nonexistent. Prayer therefore becomes fruitless because there is no purpose for it. Is Jesus Christ then the most essential component of prayer? Absolutely!

The "ABC"s of Prayer - "I" is for INTERCESSION

Did you realize that Intercession is actually somewhat different by definition than prayer ? In fact the book of First Timothy specifies that there are four types of communication that exist between God and His children: "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men" 1 Timothy 2:1. Intercession means to intervene between two parties with a view to reconciling of  differences. To mediate. The role of intercession for the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26) and Christ Himself (Romans 8:34)  is somewhat different than that of the believer. The main purpose for intercessory prayer for the Christian is for the salvation of the lost, the "reconciling of differences" if you will. The Bible tells us that our sins had seperated us from God, (Isaiah 59:2) and "that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself."2 Corinthians 5:19 If Christ has fulfilled His role in reconciliation of God to man, then shouldn't we be fulfilling our role as mediators to a Holy God on behalf of those we know who are in need of salvation ? Do you have someone on your prayer list that is unsaved that you pray for on a continual basis ? If not, let today be that day. Someone is counting on you!

The "ABC"s of Prayer. "H" is for the Holy Spirit.

The letter "H" represents the Holy Spirit. It can be said that nothing is more vital than the the work of the Spirit of God in the act of prayer. It is He who not only prompts us to pray and gives us the words to speak (John 14:26),but translates our utterances into a desernable heavenly language (Romans 8:26-27)that will reach the throneroom of the Heavenly Father. In light of the active role the Holy Spirit plays in facilitating prayer, is there anything more essential to effective prayer than providing a clean vessel for which He can dwell? Let us strive to live our lives so that we will not hinder the leading, learning and listening provided by the ministry of the Holy Spirit!

The "ABC"s of Prayer. "G" is for GRACE

Grace is often used interchangeably with the word mercy. However grace in the Scriptures deals primarily with the work of salvation. As it has been said: grace is "God's Riches At Christ's Expense". The difference between grace and mercy is best defined in Hebrews 4:16 where it says: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need”. In this passage it makes quite clear that mercy is to be “obtained” but grace is to be “found”. In the original Greek, “obtain” means to “take or claim” while grace is translated to mean something that is "freely offered to all who will receive it." How amazing to consider that God's grace is freely offered to help us during times of need! Today, let"s go on a spirirual "treasure hunt" to find the grace so freely given to each one of us.

The "ABC"s of Prayer. "F" is for FAITH

In E. M. Bounds' book "The Necessity Of Prayer" he repeatedly mentions that there can be no separation of FAITH and prayer. To the extent that we should not even enter into prayer unless it is in an attitude of faithful expectation that God will hear and respond. In speaking of faith, Bounds even goes so far as to say that prayer "has no existence apart from it,and accomplishes nothing unless it be its inseparable companion."

Faith is the component that makes prayer effective and must precede it. This very important qualifier is identified by the writer of the book of Hebrews who said: "Without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."(Hebrews 11:6) There remains then this inseverable bond between faith and prayer. So esssential, powerful and interconnected that James the Apostle said specifically that it is "the prayer of faith" that forgives sin, heals the sick and more.(James 5:15)

In the Christian experience then, it is faith that gives birth to prayer and will cause our prayer life to "grow stronger, strike deeper and rise higher." If we can begin to understand the intimate connection between faith and prayer, our prayer life will never be the same! Our prayes will not only become "the substance of things hoped for," but answers to prayer will become "the evidence of things unseen." (Hebrews 11:1)

The "ABC"s of Prayer - EMPATHY

Each of us experiences difficult times. As we travel the length of life's valleys; if we are fortunate enough to meet someone along the way who has experienced the same difficulties, it helps us to know and understand that we too can endure the trial. Incredible as it may seem, Christ understands our distress. He is "a man of sorrow acquainted with grief." (Isaiah 53:3)We have an intercessor who has felt every affliction and pain. (Hebrews 4:14) Christ's ability to empathize with the emotion, suffering and sorrow of the human experience should provide more than enough inspiration for the believer to press on.
Think of it! In eternity past, the divine counsel of the Godhead deemed it necessary for Christ to be fashioned as a man so that He would "be a merciful and faithful high priest.(Hebrews 2:17)It is that familiarity that allows Him to comfort us in a way that even the closest friend could not. (Hebrews 2:18)In the words of the old gospel song: "nobody knows the trouble I've seen. . . nobody (that is)but Jesus!

The "ABC"s of Prayer - DEPENDANCE

The letter D in the "ABC"s of prayer stands for DEPENDANCE. Our dependance should be in Christ. In fact the words of Christ in John 15 indicate that without Him, we can do nothing.(John 15:5)If we abide in Christ however, there are amazing results that come from our dependance and reliance on Him. First of all, we will be fruitful!(John 15:5)How good to know our dependance on Christ will result in the furtherance of the kingdom of God simply because we rely on Him. Secondly, the word of God tells us that if we depend on Christ, we will experience the love and fullness of joy of the Father.(John 15:10)Finally;as it applies to prayer, our dependance on Christ gives us the incomprehensible knowledge of the fact that we can "ask what you will, and it will be done for you." (John 15:7)What a promise! We can enter into prayer with expectation for results as an outcome of our dependance on Him.

The "ABC"s of Prayer - "C" is for CONFIDENCE

The next letter in the “ABC”s of prayer - “C” stands for CONFIDENCE. At this point you are probably saying to yourself: “Didn’t we just cover confidence when we talked about boldness?” Although this may seem slightly confusing, the answer is no. Boldness is the outcome of confidence. Because we have confidence it is with boldness that we approach the throne room of God. Jesus said in John 14:14 “If ye ask anything in my name I WILL DO IT.” This statement by Jesus in and of itself should give us confidence in prayer. This confidence should be the center of everything we do. If we put our confidence in our own abilities we will fail. If we put our confidence in our pastor or other men, they will disappoint. In fact, God thought that this truth was so important that He inserted that message into the very center of the Bible. Psalm 118:9 is universally recognized as being the exact midway point of the Old and New Testaments and it says:  It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in men.” So then our confidence in prayer should be based solely on the sufficiency of Christ. As Ephesians 3:12  declares: “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.” Is that the basis for your confidence today? In the words of the old hymn: “Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe.” Let us thank God today for the confidence in prayer we have today based on our faith in Christ!

Carpe Diem
I continue to be amazed how God intertwines the lives of believers.  Iron sharpens Iron” is a truth from the book of Proverbs that it seems I gain more appreciation for with the passing of each day. One of my dear friends of over twenty years – Jeff Noel is a five a day blogger, motivational speaker and fitness expert. His mantra is “Carpe Diem”! This Latin phrase literally means “seize the day”. An aphorism that; through my connection with Jeff, has become an important theme for my own life as well.  Today I realize more intimately than ever how God has woven Jeff’s life into the fabric of my own because of a poem left to me by my Grandfather and Mentor Harry Brooker. “Happy Harry” as my grandfather was known, had a poem that was very dear to him that he sent me in a letter one day years ago. This poem was the mantra of his life. I believe that living out the words of this poem was ultimately the reason that Grandpa earned his nickname.
Use the Day
Any day's worth living
If all the whole day  through
Just one someone' happier
Because of knowing you
No day is ever wasted
If there's a happy song
If even one heart somewhere
Because YOU came along
Each day's an opportunity
So seize it - every minute.
And make the world a better place
Because it has you in it!
Today I am officially changing the name of Grandpa’s poem to “Seize the Day” because it seems much more appropriate.  The word “use” can carry with it either a good or bad connotation. The word “seize”; on the other hand, means to take something with vigor and to place it in a location where it wasn’t originally. I believe that is what Grandpa felt this poem meant to him. To take a normal routine day and to transfer it “with vigor” into a different place . . . a good place. A place that can only be reached by the passionate effort of the individual involved. I know also, that is the meaning my friend Jeff Noel has in mind. And now because God has bound the lives of these two Godly men through the words of the phrase “Carpe Diem”, the mantra of Grandpa and Jeff is now echoed for eternity in the words of a poem!

The "ABC"s of Prayer. "B" is for BOLDNESS

Boldness

”Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,” Heb.10:19

B” is for BOLDNESS. Boldness is defined as a willingness to face uncertain circumstances with a sense of confidence and fearlessness. If we consider this definition in light of prayer, what is it that gives the Christian this kind of eagerness to approach the throne room of God?  Hebrews 10:19 says: “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus” It is the all sufficient blood sacrifice and mighty name of Jesus that should give each one of us a confident, self assurance in prayer.

As a child do you ever recall telling someone else “. . . cause my Dad said so!”? That innocent boldness came about because of the authority we felt we had in our father’s name.  Believer, we should have the same boldness in prayer because of the name of JESUS! As Paul told the church at Philippi: “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; Philippians 2:10  As
we go to prayer; even today, may we echo the words of the author of the book of Hebrews who confidently penned: “. . . we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” Hebrews 13:6

The "ABC"s of Prayer - "A" is for Access

Remember the excitement you felt when your children could first recite their “ABC”s? I can’t help but believe that our Heavenly Father is also thrilled when His children begin to comprehend the “ABC”s of prayer! Just as it is critical for a young child to know the alphabet in order to advance scholastically, so believers must master the fundamentals of prayer so that we can reach a place of spiritual growth, fulfillment and joy when it comes to prayer.

First and foremost “A” stands for ACCESS. Before we can even approach God in prayer, it is essential to understand that we only have access to God in prayer through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. “For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.” (Eph. 2:18) It is for this reason that the writer of Hebrews proclaimed that we can “come boldly onto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Heb. 4:16) The veil that once prevented man’s access into holiest area of God’s temple has been torn in two and we now have access directly into the throne room of God the Father. We have ACCESS !

The Prayer Dilemma

Many Christians become discouraged about praying because they feel like they can't discipline themselves to set aside a specific time and place to pray. The good news is that the Bible suggests that there is another option honored by God - the continual approach to prayer! That's right. Paul told the believers at Thessalonica to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and the Colossians to "continue steadfastly in prayer".(Colossians 4:2)In fact one of the first century Christians (Epaphras) was described as "always striving in prayers". (Colossians 4:12) So don't despair. When you have the time and a special place, lift your voice to God. When you're on the go or are suddenly reminded of a prayer need - call out to the Father. But the key is to pray. And soon you will find that the "Prayer Dilemma" will become the "Prayer Delight" to you and to the King of Heaven. (Proverbs 15:8)

"Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens." (Lamentations 3:41)

The act of prayer teaches us our unworthiness, which is a very salutary lesson for such proud beings as we are. If God gave us favours without constraining us to pray for them we should never know how poor we are, but a true prayer is an inventory of wants, a catalogue of necessities,a revelation of hidden poverty. While it is an application to divine wealth, it is a confession of human emptiness. The most healthy state of a Christian is to be always empty in self and constantly depending upon the Lord for supplies; to be always poor in self and rich in Jesus; weak as water personally, but mighty through God to do great exploits; and hence the use of prayer, because, while it adores God, it lays the creature where it should be, in the very dust. Prayer is in itself, apart from the answer which it brings, a great benefit to the Christian. As the runner gains strength for the race by daily exercise, so for the great race of life we acquire energy by the hallowed labour of prayer. Prayer plumes the wings of God's young eaglets, that they may learn to mount above the clouds. Prayer girds the loins of God's warriors, and sends them forth to combat with their sinews braced and their muscles firm. An earnest pleader cometh out of his closet, even as the sun ariseth from the chambers of the east, rejoicing like a strong man to run his race. Prayer is that uplifted hand of Moses which routs the Amalekites more than the sword of Joshua; it is the arrow shot from the chamber of the prophet foreboding defeat to the Syrians. Prayer girds human weakness with divine strength, turns human folly into heavenly wisdom, and gives to troubled mortals the peace of God. We know not what prayer cannot do! We thank thee, great God, for the mercy-seat, a choice proof of thy marvellous lovingkindness. Help us to use it aright throughout this day! - Charles H. Spurgeon

Side Benefits

Everyone likes to get a bonus! Especially when it is unexpected. Were you aware you get a bonus when you pray? Side benefits that are totally unexpected? That is what the Apostle Paul is talking about in the fourth chapter of Philipians when he says "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philipians 4:6)Who would have ever thought that the very act of prayer would give the petitioner a God given peace! And not only that, but a peace that defys human understanding. My favorite part of Philipians 4:6 comes next: "shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Yes, you will keep you mind when others are losing theirs. Keep your heart when others are being broken. All because we are faithful in prayer. King David said that God actually "loads" (Psalms 68:19)us with benefits! So what should we do in response to all of God's wonderful benefits? David said it should inspire us to pray all the more:"What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD." (Psalms 116:12-13)

The Bank of Heaven

I love the analogies of Charles H. Spurgeon! In his book "Only a Prayer Meeting" he compares our going to God in prayer to making "withdrawals" from a heavenly bank account. His belief was that when you pray. . . "you take to God one of the many precious promises which he has given us in his Word, and expect it to be fulfilled as certainly as we look for the money to be given to us when we go to the bank to cash a cheque or a note. We should not think of going there, lolling over the counter, chatting with the clerks upon every conceivable subject except the one thing for which we had gone to the bank, and then coming away without the coin we needed; but we should lay before the clerk the promise to pay the bearer a certain sum, tell him in what form we wished to take the amount, count the cash after him, and then go our way to attend to other business. That is just an illustration of the method in which we should draw supplies from the Bank of Heaven. We should seek out the promise which applies to that particular case, plead it before the Lord in faith, expect to have the blessing to which it relates; and then, having received it, let us proceed to the next duty devolving upon us."

Living Epistles

Did you ever consider the fact that your life may be the only "epistle" that the unsaved ever read? 2nd Corinthians 3:2 says " Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men. . . written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God." Even if we are unable to witness to our neighbor, our life can speak to the faith we hold dear. Charles H. Spurgeon may have said it best in his book "Only a Prayer Meeting" "When saints live unto God, sinners are converted to God. 'I was converted,' said one, 'not by hearing a sermon, but by seeing one.' 'How was that?' he was asked. 'My next-door neighbour was the only man in the street who went to a place of worship; and, as I saw him go out as regularly as clockwork, I said to myself, "That man regards the Sabbath, and the God of the Sabbath, and I do not." By-and-by, I went into his house, and I saw that comfort and order reigned in it, while my room was wretched. I saw how his wife and children dwelt in love, and I said to myself, "This home is happy because the father fears God." I saw my neighbour calm in trouble, and patient under persecution. I knew him to be upright, true, and kind, and I said to myself, "I will find out this man's secret, and thus I was converted."' Preach by your hands if you cannot preach by your tongues." Or as it has been said another way. . . Preach the gospel to every creature and when necessary, use words!

Old Reliable

As I finished reading R.A. Torey's "The Power Of Prayer" the phrase "Old Reliable" came to mind. I say that because there are some disciplines of the Christian faith that never fail. They are the old reliable truths. Prayer, personal Bible study,soul-winning... they are all on that list. If we are serious about serving God and growing in our faith, there comes a time when we have to ask ourselves "what works?". What things has God used in my life to bring me closer to Him? May I propose that it is the fundamental "blocking and tackling" of the faith;practiced by believers since the days of the early church, that has served believers well through the years. I think the prophet Jeremiah put it best when he said: "You are standing at the crossroads. So consider your path. Ask where the old, reliable paths are. Ask where the path is that leads to blessing and follow it. If you do, you will find rest for your souls.”(Jeremiah 6:16)Is your soul in turmoil? Are you at a crossroads in your spiritual journey? Choose the old reliable path!

Prayer is the Key

Prayer is the Key

Go through your Bible and you will find that prayer is the key to every every conceivable spiritual blessing. It is in answer to prayer that:

1) The words of our mouth and the meditations of our heart are made acceptable in God's
sight. (Psalm 19:14)
2) We are kept from temptation and delivered from the power of the wicked one(Matt,6:13)
3) God empowers us with His Holy Spirit (Luke  11:13)
4) Heals the sick. (James 5:15)

These and many others are available if we are only willing to take the "key" and open
the door to blessing.

Prayer Is No Petty Duty

Prayer is not a little habit pinned on to us while we were tied to our mother’s apron strings; neither is it a little decent quarter of a minute’s grace said over an hour’s dinner, but it is a most serious work of our most serious years. It engages more of time and appetite than our longest dinings or richest feasts... The character of our praying will determine the character of our life. Shallow praying will make shallow life.

The Christian must be preeminently a man or woman of prayer. Their heart must graduate in the school of prayer. In the school of prayer only can the heart learn to live. *No learning can make up for the failure to pray. No earnestness, no diligence, no study, no gifts will supply its lack.*

Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still. He will never talk well and with real success to men for God who has not learned well how to talk to God for men. More than this, prayerless words in life are deadening words.

When to Pray

In the 1st chapter of Mark, the 35th verse, we read, "And IN THE MORNING, rising up A GREAT WHILE BEFORE DAY, He went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed." JESUS CHOSE THE EARLY MORNING HOUR FOR PRAYER. Many of the mightiest men of God have followed the Lord's example in this. In the morning hour the mind is fresh and at its very best. It is free from distraction, and that absolute concentration upon God which is essential to the most effective prayer is most easily possible in the early morning hours. Furthermore, when the early hours are spent in prayer, the whole day is sanctified, and power is obtained for overcoming its temptations, and for performing its duties. More can be accomplished in prayer in the first hours of the day than at any other time during the day. Every child of God who would make the most out of his life for Christ, should set apart the first part of the day to meeting God in the study of His Word and in prayer. The first thing we do each day should be to go alone with God and face the duties, the temptations, and the service of that day, and get strength from God for all. We should get victory before the hour of trial, temptation or service comes. The secret place of prayer is the place to fight our battles and gain our victories. R.A. Torrey - "How to Pray"

ABIDE

Now here's a word you don't hear much these days. . . ABIDE. Why is the word abide so important when it comes to prayer? Because Christ said "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." (John 15:7) Abide means to "endure without yielding". The Savior tells us that if we endure with Him without yielding, our prayers will be answered! When the activities of this life cause you to say "I don't have time to pray". . . Don't yield! When the world attempts to draw you away and replace Bible reading with other literature. . . Don't yield! God's word cannot abide in us if we don't spend time in it! Let's make a conscious effort this week to ABIDE in Christ and see if it doesn't make a difference in our prayer life.

Capital "F" Friend!

Each of us have friends of one kind or another. Some very close; others more casual, but I am so glad to know I have a capital "F" friend! What do I mean by a capital "F" friend ? Consider this passage from Luke chapter 11: “Suppose one of you has a Friend, and goes to Him at midnight and says to Him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’ . . . because of his persistence, He will get up and give him as much as he needs." Isn't it good to know we have a Friend that we can go to 24 hours a day if we have a friend in need ? In this parable Christ is telling His disciples "Come to me anytime you have a friend in need and because you are My friend your persistance will pay off and I will provide what you need." Be persistant in prayer! Ask and keep on asking. We have a capital "F" friend!

One Hour

I don't know about you, but when I read this passage, I can immediately relate : " And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?" Matthew 26:40  ONE HOUR ! Peter couldn't even stay up and pray with Christ for one hour! Sound familiar ? Many of us; like Peter, have good intentions. Unfortunately when it comes right down to it, an hour can seem like a long time to pray. We've had a long day, we're tired. . . is there a solution ? Because we know the flesh is weak Mark 14:38 I have found three things in particular that help combat the flesh. (1) Pick a time of day to pray when your energy level is high! For me it is early in the morning. It may be a different time for you. If we know the flesh is weak, pick a time when it is strong. (2) Begin praying about something that you have a passion for. For me it is family. One by one, name by name. Do you want to see the lost saved and the saved grow in Christ? When we pray with passion and purpose we remain alert. (3) Pray when you HAVE TO BE alert. Do you have a long drive ahead of you? Utilize that time to be productive for the kingdom ! Before you know it ONE HOUR might become more !!

Let Us Go To The House Of The Lord !

Today is national "Back To Church Sunday". If you recall, this special day was instituted after 9/11/2001. Hearts and minds were turned to God as we considered the tragedy of that day. Churches were packed from coast to coast as so many began to consider the reality of eternity in light of those events. Let's commemorate and honor those who lost their lives, by getting back to church today! I would further challenge us all to STAY IN CHURCH. The admonition from the writer in Hebrews 10:25 was to " not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Do we see Christ's return approaching? Are there signs of His imminent return? I'm with King David, "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD." Psalm 122:1

Pleasing in His Sight

How amazing is it to consider that what we do might be "pleasing in HIS sight" ? ! According to Scripture that is what happens when we keep the commandments of God. In the third chapter of "How To Pray" R.A. Torre challenges us to consider how our conduct impacts our prayer life. Is it possible that how we live can influence how God responds to our prayers? 1st John 3:22 says: "And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight." Did you ever notice that when your children are behaving; and they ask for things, how much more willing we are to respond to those requests ? Torre suggests that our heavenly Father is no different. As we lift our petitions to the Lord today, let's ask the Holy Spirit to so direct our steps that the Father will be pleased. After all, if we. .  . " being evil, know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" Matthew 7:11.

Praying is the most important part of the present ministry of our risen Lord!

In his book "How to Pray" R.A.Torey lists eleven reasons for the importance of prayer. My personal favorite is number five : PRAYING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE PRESENT MINISTRY OF OUR RISEN LORD. Think about it. After His ascension until now Christ primary goal has been to perform intercessory prayer for us! Romans 8:34 says of Christ that it is He "that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, WHO ALSO MAKETH INTERCESSION FOR US." If as Christians we are to seek to be conformed to the image of Christ, His priorities should be our priorities. His concerns should be our concerns. His passions should be our passions. As we enter into prayer today, let's be conscious of the fact that we are in very good company! Have a blessed day.

Welcome !

I have been recently blessed by R.A. Torey's book "How to Pray" It is in response to his challenge to take more seriously our privilege of prayer, that I have developed this prayer blog. I hope you find it encouraging, helpful and rewarding.
